Plans for the Together at Christmas service at Westminster Abbey
The event takes place at the historic abbey and is hosted by the Princess of Wales. It is scheduled for Dec. 5 and will gather a mix of family, friends and public figures for a seasonal ceremony.

Organizers say the evening will feature traditional carols sung by Westminster Abbey’s choir, spoken readings and live performances. The service also highlights charitable work and the partnerships the couple has supported during the year.
Who will read and perform: headline names and contributors
A number of well-known artists will take part in readings and music. The lineup blends stage and screen talent with contemporary musicians.
- Readers: Kate Winslet and Chiwetel Ejiofor will give readings.
- Additional voices: Babatunde Aléshé and Joe Locke, the latter accompanied by pianist Paul Gladstone Reid.
- Musical acts: Hannah Waddingham, Griff, Katie Melua, and Dan Smith will sing.
- Folk contribution: Cornish group Fisherman’s Friends will perform a song.
Young performers and the abbey choir
Eight young musicians, aged 3 to 18, from the Future Talent charity will open the music. They will be joined by the abbey’s renowned choir for familiar carols and seasonal hymns.
Theme and message: a focus on love and connection
This year’s program centers on the idea of “love in all its forms.” Kensington Palace frames the service as an occasion to celebrate bonds across families, communities and generations.
The theme aims to stress togetherness and compassion, highlighting small acts of kindness and shared moments that reconnect people in a divided world.
Family presence and personal meaning for the Princess
Prince William will attend, and past services have included the couple’s children. Details on other royal guests will be confirmed closer to the date.
The service carries personal resonance for Kate. Earlier this year she announced she is in remission from cancer. She has spoken about nature as a source of comfort, a strand that will be woven into the event.
Floral displays, horticulture and community involvement
Horticultural designer Jamie Butterworth will create the exterior festive display outside the abbey, reflecting Kate’s love of nature.
The Royal Horticultural Society will donate wreaths made in collaboration with ambassadors and schoolchildren. The decorations will be showcased inside the ancient building.
Local carols across the UK and broadcast details
The central service will be accompanied by community carol events at 15 venues across the United Kingdom. Locations include cities in England, Wales, and Scotland.
The service will be filmed for television as part of Royal Carols: Together At Christmas. ITV1 and ITVX will air the program on Christmas Eve, with a repeat the following morning.
